The role involves measuring cardiovascular parameters and assisting in all phases of catheterization procedures.

Responsibilities

Actively participates in the orientation and training of new employees and students

Demonstrates proficiency in complex clinical skills to include: IABP, stents, DCA, complex PTCA's, Alblations and Pacemakers

Demonstrates proficiency in cardiac anatomy and physiology, correlating pressure wave forms and rhythm analysis

Proficient in patient assessment, monitoring, and sterile technique as required

Assists in the maintenance and effective use of all equipment and supplies in the clinical areas

Maintains patients’ confidential records, reports, and files

Responds appropriately and timely to patients, physicians, and other customers’ needs

Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the entire life span

Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested

Required

High School graduate supplemented by coursework in science, anatomy and physiology

Candidates must have completed one of the following programs: A Cardiovascular Technology program accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting body, A formalized on-the-job cardiac catheterization training program consisting of at least 1,040 combined hours (6 months) of classroom and practical laboratory work, Completion of an accredited education program such as cardiovascular technology, surgical technology, emergency medical technology, etc

Must have upon hire and maintain BLS (and ACLS upon hire or within six (6) months)

Six (6) months of experience in a health related field

Hold a valid TN EMT (Basic, Advanced, or Licensed Paramedic in the state of TN) or CST license or meet one of the education requirements referenced above
