Technician I - Accelerator Operator

Responsibilities
Assisting in the operation of accelerator systems to ensure optimal performance
Diagnosing and resolving operational issues affecting accelerator performance
Utilizing computer workstations to manage and monitor operations
Maintaining detailed on-shift logs to document equipment performance and any unusual behavior
Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of operating conditions, procedures, protocols, and policies to ensure compliance and safety
Coordinating with technical groups for hands-on repairs and overseeing the initiation of such work
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent with 0+ years relevant experience
This job requires constant and permanent rotating shift work
Communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with technical teams to facilitate repairs and maintenance
A strong interest in and willingness to learn the procedures and operations associated with particle accelerators and electron storage rings
Ability to complete a self-paced training program, demonstrating initiative and self-discipline
Knowledge of physics and electrical theory
Problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
Ability to model Argonne's core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork
Preferred
Previous experience in a technical or scientific environment
Familiarity with accelerator systems and related technologies
