Responsibilities

Reviews patient history and physician's orders
Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation
When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice
Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate
Prepares equipment and supplies
Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters
Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary
Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment
Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s)
Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results
Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure
Enters, transmits and reports scan results
Maintains appropriate supply inventory in both special procedures and radiology, orders supplies as necessary, assist in training new staff into modality, etc
Scrubs in to assist, monitoring documentation, room circulator, etc
Responsible for working with Provider(s) to coordinate the Cath Lab schedule and add on patients
Responsible for coordinating Education and In-services for Cath Lab staff
Primary preceptor for all new Cath Lab Techs

Radiologic TechnologistBLS CertificationACLS CertificationRadiation Operator LicensePatient EducationEquipment TroubleshootingQuality Control ProceduresPatient PositioningSupply Inventory ManagementStaff Training

Required

Licensed by the state as a radiation operator
Registered by ARRT as a Radiologic Technologist
BLS; ACLS - obtained within 6 months of hire
