The Substation Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing electrical and electronic equipment systems while ensuring safety and compliance. This role involves supporting the construction and modification of substations for Electrical Utility Companies.
Construction
Responsibilities
Work safely while assisting in new/existing construction and various tasks such as:
Demolition
Site preparation
Excavating
Backfilling
Landscaping
Trenching
Pole setting
Cable labeling
Qualification
Required
Read and understand system maps to become knowledgeable in general electric distribution system layout, system substation capacities and load areas, substation circuit feeds, and general system sectionalizing
Assist with installing transformer and transformer banks, bus structures and switchgear, lines (underground/overhead), ground grid, control buildings, and other related substation material tasks
Able to operate forklifts and maintain a valid forklift certification
Will work with man baskets, skid steers, shovels, compactors, back hoes and other industry equipment
Frequently work around energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care
Understands and complies with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics
