Bone Density Technician

Responsibilities

Produce images of optimal quality for interpretation with accuracy and without delay
Analyze scans and make preliminary interpretation of results
Maintain documentation/database requirements to ensure that all technical data is entered timely and accurately
Notify management and take proper action to address equipment malfunctions
Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation
Ensure patient comfort during and after the exam
Report, immediately, any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator
Provide instruction/mentoring to new hires and Radiology students
Strive to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions
Participate in off-site community educational events
May be required to rotate through all imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations
Other duties as assigned

Qualification

Bone Densitometry CertificationRadiologic TechnologyRegistered Technologist (ARRT)Basic Life Support (BLS)Patient EducationEquipment MaintenanceTechnical DocumentationMentoring

Required

Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
Must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing
Certification in Bone Densitometry (BD) required within one year of hire: R.T. (R) (BD) (ARRT)
Certification as a Bone Densitometry Technologist (CBDT) through the International Society of Clinical Densitometry required within one year of hire
Current state licensure required prior to employment
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross

Preferred

One year experience as a general Radiologic Technologist with BMD training
