Solar Farm Technician II

The Solar Farm Technician II is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on solar PV electrical and mechanical equipment, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and documenting all work completed.

Responsibilities
Test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV electrical and mechanical equipment
Ensure that all tasks are performed safely and by site operating procedures
Complete Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), JSA’s, Permit to Work, and job-specific documentation that is required to conduct inspection, maintenance, and repairs in a safe manner
Proactively look for improvement opportunities to job appropriate processes and procedures
Perform data collection and prepare reports to meet reporting requirements
Perform balance of plant and switchyard work as required
Monitor the activities of maintenance contractors and ensure corrective actions where appropriate
Perform electrical testing as necessary, including insulation and thermal testing
Document all work and generate reports as necessary
Use Microsoft Office for communication, presentation, and documentation
Use computer software in support of maintenance and troubleshooting
Identify gaps in safety standards and safety risks in the environment
At times, may assist with BOP activities
Respond quickly to emergencies or situations requiring immediate troubleshooting and corrective actions
Ensure site access, site HSE, security, deliveries, and inspections are performed by site protocols
Interface with any 3rd party contractors working at our facilities
Available to respond to nontraditional operating hours for operations, maintenance, and emergent issues, including emergent abnormal operating conditions, execution of maintenance, tracking work orders, resolution of O&M issues
Operate mobile equipment including mowers, forklift, tractor, excavator, and motor vehicles
Represent the company in a professional manner with contractor and vendor relations, as well as during partnership opportunities within the community

Qualification
Required
High School diploma or equivalent required
Unrestricted driver license in good standing
Minimum 2 years of work experience as a maintenance electrician (commercial or industrial), or minimum 4 years of experience as a multi-craft maintenance technician performing electrical work on operating equipment; or minimum 2 years experience in operations and maintenance of power generation, transmission, or distribution
Must be skilled in at least one of the following: power plant operations, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance; substation maintenance
Must be competent in power plant safety protocols
Must be competent in electrical safety
Must be competent in understanding the NEC
Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools
Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures
Ability to work within tight deadlines, and evolving schedules
Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned, including supporting other sites
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Routine operation of a computer/tablet and other office productivity machineries, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
Frequent oral and written communications
Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
Complete all required training in a satisfactory manner and timeframe
First aid/CPR/AED
OSHA Certified
Shift work
Must be trainable
Must be adaptive to new technologies and methods
Must take ownership of responsibilities and look beyond the work task, with regards to discovering new opportunities for corrective work
Must communicate verbally and orally at an extremely high level
Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to and over 50 lbs
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the work day
Preferred
Associate degree in engineering or related field from an accredited US school other than correspondence or internet
NABCEP Certification or Electrical License
Preference will be given to the candidate with experience in solar O&M
