Therapy Technician - Previous Student Observer

Louisiana Orthopaedic Specialists is seeking a Therapy Technician who will assist Physical and Occupational Therapists with patient care and treatment plans. The role involves maintaining effective communication with patients and staff, ensuring a clean and safe clinic environment, and assisting with various administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

Assists the Physical and Occupational Therapist with patient care and plan of treatment
Establishes and maintains effective communication with patients, family members and other departments
Assist the front office staff as needed
Responds to patient questions and inquiries as required to maintain a high patient satisfaction level
Responsible for care and maintenance of equipment and keeping a safe and clean environment in the clinic as outlined in 'Rehab tech duties list'
Assists with supply inventorying and stocking and organization of clinic shelves/cabinets
Assists the Lead Rehab Tech with special projects
Maintains patient confidentiality
Assists all patients on rehabilitation floor
Assist with seamless and efficient clinic function and daily clinic flow
The job holder must demonstrate current competencies for job position

Required

High school diploma or GED required
Knowledge of the application of exercise as directed by the therapist
Knowledge of clinic policies, procedures, regulations, safety/infection control, and quality control
Knowledge of how to use therapy equipment
Knowledge of medical terminology
Skill in the application of exercise as directed by the therapist
Skill in effectively communicating with Physical and Occupational Therapists, and front office staff
Skill in using a computer system/EMR software
Skill in accurate recognition of patient/clinic danger and appropriate fall risk patients
Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, and staff
Ability to anticipate and recognize the needs of the clinic and the therapist
Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form
Ability to be a resource to patients and staff
The job holder must demonstrate current competencies for job position
Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment
Some bending and stretching required
Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard
Requires occasional support for all sizes of patients in transfers
Ability to lift 50 lbs. from the floor to the waist
Demands of kneeling, squatting, and overhead lifting
The LOS employee handbook must be read, and an acknowledgement receipt signed
Adherence to LOS OIG Compliance Program
OSHA Requirements and training to include: Safety Training

Preferred

Graduation from a technical program or BA in Kinesiology or Exercise Science
One year of experience in an outpatient therapy clinic
