Telecom/SUE Technician

Farnsworth Group, Inc. is a well-established engineering, architecture, and surveying firm seeking a Telecom/SUE Technician. The role involves working with the Utility Engineering Team on telecommunications and utility projects, including site visits, mapping, and drafting.

Design

Responsibilities

Complete site visits including but not limited to utility locating, GIS mapping, documenting existing conditions, and manhole mapping
Visit construction sites to monitor contractor safety and provide quality control to ensure the project is being built as specified in the plans and specifications
Observe and document as-built conditions
Provide office support for telecommunications and other utility projects using AutoCAD or other design software
Occasionally travel overnight

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent
0-3 years of relevant experience as a technician
Great attitude, willingness to learn, and a team player
This position typically has work that is performed in both an office environment and in the field on construction site
Valid driver's license and be insurable under company insurance
Ability to work outside in a wide variety of weather and terrain conditions
Ability to regularly lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/ or move up to 100 pounds. This role requires lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, and other physical exertion
Encourages and supports a safety-oriented culture

Preferred

Associates Degree in Pre-engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, etc. or Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
Experience in telecommunications or utility design or construction
Experience in fiber optic, copper, or coax splicing
Experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) locating and/or surveying
Familiarity with utility atlases/records and/or GIS programs
Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation or ARAMIS
