Responsibilities
Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments
Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices
Lubricates and cleans parts
Starts devices to test their performance
Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts
Initiates purchase order for parts and machines
Repairs electrical equipment
Remove and install new equipment as needed
Take a proactive role in assuring safe, quality products are produced by immediately addressing any safety or quality concerns
Must be able to work at least 8 plus hours per day 6 days a week, weekends and be on weekend rotation call duty
Other duties may be assigned on occasion at the request of the Maintenance Supervisor
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Must possess good reading and writing skills
Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with coworkers on an individual or team basis
Must possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
Must possess the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, as well as to draw and interpret bar graphs
Must be able to attend different seminars, vocational trainings, and specialized schools in order to enhance understanding of technology being used within the company
