Rutherford Regional Health System is a 143-bed acute care facility dedicated to providing a broad array of inpatient and outpatient care. The Echocardiology Technician will perform echocardiograms, assist with stress testing, and provide patient care while working closely with cardiologists to evaluate findings and ensure proper documentation.

Responsibilities

Coordinates/supervises student training

Performs all aspects of ECG's

Assist with Stress Testing (Treadmill only)

Assist with Echos, Stress Echo's, Dobutamine Echo's and assist with Trans esophageal echo's

Performs all related paperwork including: Secures patient information; prepares a permanent record of test performed; copies, faxes and/or delivers test result bills, and records for test performed

Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation

Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate

Prepares equipment and supplies

Implements safety and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment

Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary

Positions patient and performs imaging procedure

Required

Associate's degree from a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program required

Basic Life Support (BLS) required

Registered Sonographer Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Required (within one year of hire or transfer)

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

Preferred

Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred

1-3 years experience preferred
