The Telemetry Technician is responsible for the continuous monitoring of telemetry patients, recognizing and reporting rhythm changes, and ensuring proper documentation and communication in high-stress situations.

Responsibilities

Continuously monitor patient cardiac rhythms and physiological parameters

Observe, document, and correctly interpret cardiac rhythms

Recognize rhythm abnormalities and promptly report concerns to the RN

Operate monitoring equipment correctly and troubleshoot when necessary

Identify and respond to monitor alarms and emergency conditions

Maintain composure and communicate effectively in high-stress situations

Utilize office equipment such as fax machines, scanners, copiers, telephones, and computers

Ensure proper documentation of all electronic and paper communications

Answer phone calls and direct inquiries to the correct resource

Accurately document the initiation and discontinuation of patient monitoring

Follow proper procedures for managing patient records and ensuring confidentiality

Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned
