Trucking People is assisting in the hiring of an Autonomous Vehicle Mechanic to maintain and repair a fleet of autonomous vehicles. The role requires expertise in automotive systems and collaboration with engineering and operations teams to ensure vehicle safety and readiness.

Responsibilities

Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and scheduled maintenance on AVs, including ADAS sensors and base vehicle systems
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and computer-based issues using OEM tools and proprietary diagnostic platforms
Respond rapidly via Slack to faults or alerts, resolving issues or coordinating vehicle recovery
Facilitate hardware/software retrofits and updates, collaborating closely with engineering teams
Document all work: fault logs, resolutions, parts used, and vehicle downtime
Ensure fleet vehicles are show-ready for deployments or demos
Enforce health and safety standards, use safe work procedures, and conduct risk assessments
Participate in on-site support or remote field assistance

Qualification

Required

3+ years automotive technician experience, or equivalent vocational/technical training
Proficient diagnosing & repairing mechanical, electrical, and embedded systems (CAN, HV systems, sensors)
Comfortable working with EVs and hybrid drive systems
Strong computer skills: diagnostic software, google suite, JIRA, database logging
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to interact with engineers, operations teams
Strong safety-first mindset, familiar with OSHA or equivalent procedures
