Acute Care Rehabilitation - Restorative Technician

Responsibilities

Carries out direct patient care duties including transfers, ambulation assistance, and response to call bells
Assists patient with Activities of Daily Living including bathing, toileting, hygiene and grooming and encourages independence as appropriate
Carries out activities as instructed by Physical and Occupational Therapists. Instructs patients in simple exercise and flexibility programs including non-skilled handling of patients including passive range of motion to the upper and lower extremity at the direction of allied health care practitioners
Completes timely documentation of patient related information, (i.e. time in/out, ambulatory care, functional mobility). The Restorative Technician may not provide details pertaining to level of assistance required with transfers nor distance or quality of gait completed with ambulation. The Restorative Technician should refer to documentation provided by the primary Physical/Occupational Therapist as appropriate
Assembles, analyzes, and maintains order/confidentiality of all inpatient records in universal chart order per policy
Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements
Maintains unit statistics, manuals and logs as assigned
Assumes responsibility for maintaining a clean, orderly environment
Maintains responsibility for own development through active participation in in-services and/or continuing education programs
Observes and reports changes in the patient’s health status
Demonstrates/models the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external)
Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety
The Restorative Technician also will assist in fitting semi-custom orthotic braces upon receipt of the appropriate training and education, which includes preferred state accreditation as a licensed Orthotic Fitter
Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices
Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code
Other duties as assigned

Required

Two-year associates degree required
Current CPR certification
Successful completion of required affiliations and/or CEU's to maintain licensure

Preferred

Four year bachelor's degree preferred
Training and education in orthotic bracing - certification as an orthotic fitter preferred within the first year of employment
