The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a temporary Telecom Technician II for the Emergency Communications Program in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This position maintains emergency communications systems essential to the mission of law enforcement and public safety entities, ensuring the safety of the traveling public.

Responsibilities

Repairs and maintains complex electronic equipment
Diagnose and maintain hardware and software
Performs preventive maintenance, emergency repair and troubleshooting, modifications, utility locates, operation, software maintenance, and oversees initial operations
Inspect, diagnose and document, and repair roadside devices
Assist the Lead Site Manager in maintaining and upgrading the current WYDOT network hardware
Maintains the State of Wyoming’s public safety communication system, WyoLink, as well as other public messaging systems

Qualification

FCC General Radio Operator's LicenseTower Climbing Safety CertificationTechnical Operations experienceElectronic equipment maintenanceBasic hand tool useDigital multimeter usageFirst aidCPR training

Required

A driver's license is required
Basic hand tool use and knowledge
Ability to read and use a digital multimeter
Ability to perform the job safely
Proper training in basic first aid and CPR

Preferred

FCC General Radio Operator's License
Tower Climbing Safety and Rescue Certification
Bachelor's Degree or 3-4 years of experience in Technical Operations
