Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair electrical control systems
Install new electrical and instrumentation equipment, and maintain existing instruments, equipment, and systems
Review, design, and plan instrumentation additions, or other modifications to existing electrical systems or equipment
Performs preventive maintenance and calibration to existing electrical systems and instrumentation
Use proper diagnostic equipment, read electrical wiring diagrams in order to trace out and repair electrical, electronic, and pneumatic control systems
Perform trouble-shooting and maintenance of SCADA hardware and software in conjunction with the SCADA technician. Program, troubleshoot and maintain hardware, software, PLCs, graphic user interfaces, and field instruments
Work collaboratively with contractors, consultants, and operators to implement new control systems and modify existing systems. Coordinate with and review work by contractors and consultants for compliance with plans and specifications, and assist in the start-up of new equipment
Responds to on-call service requests as required
Has functional knowledge of the appropriate use of lock-out/ tag-out safety procedures, relevant occupational hazards and standard safety precautions. Has functional knowledge of low voltage, and high voltage electrical systems
Works weekly rotational on call for plant trouble/breakdowns as required
Perform related duties as required
This position is considered 'essential personnel' and must report even during storm events and other town emergencies
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or general education degree. Education completed beyond minimum requirements may be substituted for some experience
Minimum of three years of high voltage (480 V) electrical experience, with some control system, variable frequency drive, and PLC programming experience
Valid driver's license
Possession of a Master Electrician license
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
Ability to write correspondence
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Preferred
Substantial knowledge of maintenance and pump control systems
Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications
