Responsibilities
Operating and maintaining pumps, valves, filters, and other machinery to ensure proper wastewater flow and treatment
Keeping accurate logs and reports on plant operations, equipment readings, and test results
Control equipment and monitoring processes that remove or destroy harmful materials, chemicals, microorganisms from wastewater
Adhering to all relevant environmental and safety regulations
Monitor and adjust chemicals
Checks and records readings from meters, gauges, and instruments; operates handheld meters; reads and records data on plant operations
Conducts frequent periodic inspections of the plant to detect malfunctions and initiate corrective actions
Qualification
Required
Possess a High School graduate or its equivalent in education or experience
5 years or more of wastewater experience
Willing to work overtime or other non-standard hours when necessary
Possess a valid Driver's License, CDL preferred
Possess a wastewater Grade IV Operator Certificate as issued by ADEM or reciprocal equivalent
Knowledge of the concept, principles, and techniques of wastewater treatment
Knowledge of safe handling of techniques of hazardous chemicals and material
Knowledge of chemical testing and analysis procedures
Must know state laws and ADEM regulations applying to wastewater
Ability to keep accurate records, prepare reports, and understand oral and written instructions
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Must be able to develop strategic operational plans
Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and reports
