Central Sterile Technician

Memorial Health Ohio is seeking a Sterile Technician to join their surgery team, working approximately 32 hours a week. The role involves cleaning, decontaminating, preparing, and sterilizing medical and surgical supplies, as well as responding to emergencies and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.

Responsibilities

Follows established protocols for cleaning, decontaminating, preparing and packaging, disinfecting or sterilizing, and storing medical and surgical supplies and equipment for various department; Adheres to standard precautions including the use of personal protective equipment; Follows safety procedures and manufacturer’s instructions when handling cleaning solutions, supplies, and equipment; Operates equipment in sterile processing areas safely and according to manufacturer’s instructions for use; Comply with organizational policies, regulatory and accreditation standards and processional guidelines
Inventory, receive, and restock materials used for supporting sterile processing services; Distribute medical and surgical supplies from sterile processing areas to other areas as needed
Responds to emergencies outside normal working hours (i.e. internal and external disasters); takes on-call as assigned
Monitors, interprets and documents results of physical, chemical and biological indicators for all types of sterilizers used in the sterile processing areas; communicates significant information to ensure optimal safety and care outcomes for team members and patients

Required

Completion of a high degree or equivalent
Graduate of a Sterile Processing Technology certification program
Surgical Technologist or LPN qualifications are also welcome
Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) certification or the ability to obtain it within 3 years of employment
American Heart Association's BLS certification within 6 months of employment (continuous certification required)
Consistent, reliable attendance
Completion of mandatory training, health requirements, and in-services (team training, safety, infection control, etc.)
Compliance with hospital and departmental Ethics and Compliance programs, including promptly reporting variances through the proper channels
