Fire Sprinkler Technician

Responsibilities

Performs journey-level work in the testing, repair, inspection, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems to meet NFPA codes using hand tools and monitoring devices
Performs both routine and preventive maintenance on fire sprinkler systems
Provides information to management for new projects and deferred maintenance planning
Reviews designs and maintains proper documentation to ensure compliance with NFPA codes and university construction standards
Maintains inventory control and inspects test equipment for safe and proper operations
Maintains a clean and safe work environment
Coordinates work with outside contractors
Performs work from written or verbal instructions and in accordance with established safety procedures
Performs other job related functions as assigned. Will participate in the On-Call program

Required

High school graduation or GED
Two years of experience in journey level installation, repair, maintenance, and operation of electronic equipment, systems, and components

Preferred

Associate's degree in a technical field
Be knowledgeable of the Fire Water Distribution Loop and be product knowledgeable
More than two years of the described experience
Experience at the University of Texas or in a university setting
Demonstrated ability to work as a team member
Customer service oriented
Computer skills
NICET Certification in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems and/or Water Based Systems Layout
Master Plumber License
AutoCAD experience
Successful completion of the Leader Development Program
