Responsibilities

Maintains knowledge to diagnose and repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment and light equipment as required
Performs repair or preventative maintenance on diesel and gasoline vehicles, including rollers, chippers, on highway trucks, oil distributors, and other vehicles to maximize safe and productive operations. Typical repairs and maintenance would include work on engines, transmissions, chassis, drivelines and body components, hydraulics, brakes, electrical/electronic and suspension systems, wheels, tires, and undercarriages
Reads and interprets equipment condition reports and/or repair orders, communicates with the supervisor and/or operator for clarification of defects and discusses preventative techniques with operators to minimize future repairs
Uses hand and power tools, prepares and moves tools around jobsites
Travel to varying job sites for repair work
Communicate with management and staff on conditions of equipment, as well as any possible improvements or ideas
Collaborates with assigned work crews, shares information with coworkers about work plan
Perform needed hot work, including welding and cutting
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

High School or Equivalent
Vocational/Trade School 2-year technical degree or comparable equivalent
3+ years experience in heavy construction, road construction equipment industry or a related field required
Proficient with a computer, including the use of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and diagnostic use, using manufacturer provided programs
Ability to be trained to complete tasks in a safe and effective manner
Ability to communicate orally, in writing, and basic mathematical skills
Must maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance
Follow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule
Participate in safety briefings, job briefings, and any other pass on information from team members, management or customer
Must be able to work with a team, take direction and follow work rules, as well as, take on additional job responsibilities as needed or assigned
Must be capable of working with limited supervision/self-starter
Flexibility required; ability to work days, nights, weekends
Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Valid Driver's License required
CDL A required
Must have the ability to continuously stand or walk on level or uneven ground
Must have the ability to perform repairs on the job site potentially in live traffic
Must have the ability to bend, crouch and/or kneel at waist or knees
Must have the ability to push, pull, twist, carry and lift up to 70lbs
Ability to work outside the majority of the time and withstand extreme weather conditions
Continuous exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at construction sites, including heights, moving vehicles, stopped traffic
Indoor garage conditions that include regular exposure to noise, including horns, mechanical equipment, heavy equipment, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes and airborne particles
Climbs in, out and under equipment; lays or stands under equipment
Uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support overtime without fatigue
Uses good manual dexterity and multi limb coordination with the ability to quickly move arms and legs
Possess excellent stamina to work between 8-12 hours per day
Must be able to pass a drug test

Preferred

Welding and/or fabrication skills and/or experience preferred
Technical certification or ASE's helpful
