Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance on vehicles to make sure they are running properly
Inspect various parts of the vehicle, including brake system, wheel bearings, steering mechanisms, air systems, and electrical system
Diagnose vehicles using diagnosing software and mechanical test gauges
Use different tools as needed such as hand tools, electric tools, pneumatic tools, floor jacks, hoists, and welding equipment
Replace parts as needed to accomplish repairs
Ensure Repair Orders are completed accurately. Address Safety Bulletins and Factory Warranties as needed
Test drive vehicles to verify repairs are completed and the vehicle is ready for the customer to pick up
Overtime (more than 40 hours in a week) may be required as needs dictate
Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience as a diesel technician
Ability to diagnose vehicles using diagnostic computers and software
Valid driver's license and safe driving record
Must be able to lift heavy equipment and parts regularly
Good customer service skills
Preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent
Technical certification or degree
Class A/B CDL license with endorsements: standard transmission, air brakes, tanker, bus
Virginia State Inspector's license
