Dialysis Technician II | PRN

Responsibilities

Understands water room equipment operation and function; completes testing and follows up appropriately on abnormal results and completes required documentation
Completes dialysis treatments, initiation and discontinuation from internal accesses and central lines, monitoring of vascular access function and appropriately reports signs of stenosis, occlusion or infection to RN
Use of aseptic technic to initiate and discontinue dialysis on stable patients utilizing CVC access. Performs aseptic CVC dressing change
Assembles and prepares necessary treatment supplies, rinses and primes dialyzer and attaches and installs all required tubing according to unit procedure. Tests and sets parameters according to dialysis prescription
Monitors equipment for safe and proper functioning, respond to alarms and make appropriate adjustments; including blood flow rates and fluid removal rates
Completes accurate documentation of dialysis access and patient treatment
Observes patient during treatments, notifies RN of any adverse reactions. Responds to dialysis–related emergencies, immediately seeking assistance from RN
Provides technical assistance to nurses and readily follows direction from nurses for hemodialysis treatments
Participates in collaboration with patients, family, physicians, other nursing staff and all ancillary departments
