Certified Veterinary Technician

Responsibilities

Prepare and monitor patients for surgical and dental procedures
Induce, maintain, and recover patients under anesthesia safely and confidently
Operate and maintain anesthesia and monitoring equipment
Maintain sterile technique and surgical suite cleanliness
Perform dental charting, scaling, polishing, and radiography
Assist veterinarians with extractions and advanced dental procedures
Educate clients on dental home care and oral health
Administer medications, fluids, and treatments per DVM instruction
Obtain blood, urine, and cytology samples and perform lab testing
Place IV catheters and calculate fluid and drug doses accurately
Monitor hospitalized patients and maintain accurate medical records
Mentor veterinary assistants and newer technicians
Participate in training, CE opportunities, and team meetings
Maintain compliance with safety and OSHA standards

Qualification

Active Illinois CVT licenseSurgical assistingAnesthesia proficiencyDental skillsCornerstone PIMS experienceClient educationTeam leadershipMentoring skills

Required

Active Illinois CVT license in good standing

Preferred

Cornerstone or similar PIMS experience
Interest in technician training and leadership
Minimum 2 years of clinical experience with strong surgical and dental skills
Proficiency with anesthesia, monitoring, and dental radiographs
