The Certified OPGW Fiber Technician will be responsible for terminating, splicing, documenting, and testing fiber optic lines within a customer’s network.

Responsibilities
Perform fiber tests with OTDR’s, light source and meters
Terminate, splice, bonds/grounds and tests fiber optic equipment to standards
Perform installation of fiber optic equipment and patch and panels
Be proficient in the operation of all related fiber tools and equipment
Terminate, splice and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosures
Troubleshoot damaged fiber effectively and efficiently
Perform fiber tests with OTDRs, light source and meters
Learn and adhere to all safety standards
Qualification
Required
Knowledge of Fiber Optics and Networking
Be able to read and understand blue prints, designs and work scopes
Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
Complete a satisfactory criminal background check
Able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time
Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, able to lift 70 lbs
Must have a valid driver's license and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
NETA certified a plus
5+ years of previous experience in field
Degree in Electrical/Electrical technology, or Military experience
CWDM and DWDM experience
