Service Technician - Suppression and Extinguisher
MES Life Safety is the nation’s largest provider of PPE and services to first responders. The Service Technician – Suppression and Extinguisher is responsible for inspecting, testing, servicing, and repairing kitchen hood fire suppression systems while ensuring compliance with NFPA standards and delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities
Perform inspections, testing, and maintenance (ITM) on extinguisher and kitchen hood fire suppression systems in accordance with NFPA 17, 17A, 10, 96, and other applicable codes
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair suppression systems and associated detection/release devices
Conduct hydrostatic testing and recharge cylinders when required
Complete accurate documentation of all inspections, deficiencies, and corrective actions
Clearly communicate findings and recommendations to customers and provide cost-effective repair solutions
Respond to emergency service calls, including after-hours, as scheduled
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA standards, Florida state laws, and company safety policies
Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicle in proper working condition
Coordinate with dispatch, project managers, and service teams to complete work efficiently
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred)
Minimum of 2 years' experience in kitchen hood fire suppression system service, installation, or inspection
Familiarity with NFPA codes and standards related to suppression systems
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, system drawings, and technical manuals
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer service skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
Florida-issued Portable Fire Extinguisher and Pre-Engineered Systems permit (for kitchen hood or industrial systems) must be required
Must meet all Florida State Fire Marshal permit and licensing requirements to inspect, service, and maintain suppression systems
Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and cylinders weighing up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally
Regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and reaching overhead
Comfortable working in confined spaces, mechanical rooms, and elevated areas
Visual acuity and manual dexterity to service small system components
Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, dust, and noise
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE, including respirators, when required
