Senior College Laboratory Technician (Classroom) - The Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture
The City University of New York is seeking a Senior College Laboratory Technician for the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture. The role involves supervising and performing complex technical functions in laboratories, maintaining equipment, training staff, and ensuring safety and hygiene standards in support of coursework.

Responsibilities
Maintains, fabricates, modifies, and repairs equipment
Determines equipment requirements, prepares purchase specifications and coordinates acquisitions
Trains and supervises College Laboratory Technicians, College Assistants, and other laboratory staff
Manages set up, maintenance, and organization of student laboratories
Maintains safety and hygiene standards
Documents laboratory activities
Performs related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma with a minimum of eight years' related experience
Ability to supervise others
Preferred
Master's degree in Architecture or a field related to the specific assignment and two years of relevant experience
Bachelor's degree in Architecture and a minimum of four years of full-time experience in administering a Robotics Lab and a Digital Fabrication Lab
Exceptional organizational, technical, and analytic skills
Knowledge of and experience working with advanced computing, industrial robots, AI, physical computing, and digital fabrication machines (including 3D printers and laser cutters)
Experience operating robotics and digital laboratories in an architecture school including experience with research-driven design and robotic fabrication workflows
Knowledge of software for 3D modeling and programming industrial robots
Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including with students and faculty who need to learn to use digital equipment
Ability to set and meet pressured deadlines, to maintain equipment, meet reporting requirements; and manage multiple, often-competing priorities
Must be reliable, a self-motivator and able to collaborate with and motivate others
