Assistant CQA Field Technician

Responsibilities

Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, plans, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, flow diagrams, materials sampling, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for field inspection activities
Assist with performing basic professional inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, construction, materials, controls, resources, layout, alignment, and elevation to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, and construction or operating permits
Provide technical assistance documenting geotechnical drilling investigations, proper construction of geosynthetic containment and leachate collection systems, stormwater controls, infrastructure, and equipment according to provided design specifications
Assist with verifying construction quantities, change orders, interpretation of contract plans and specifications, and escalating any differences, errors, or technical problems for appropriate resolution
Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation related to inspection findings Comply with client policies and procedures for inspection work under contract
Comply with client and regulatory policies and procedure for inspection work under contract
Complete training on assigned tasks
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Required

High School Diploma
Minimum of 0-2 years of experience
General awareness of construction principles and field inspection practices
Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience
Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
Basic proficiency with technical writing, spreadsheets, technology, and tools
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and anti-harassment policies
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. This may include extended travel and weekend work

Preferred

Associate's Degree in closely related discipline is preferred
Additional consideration will be given to candidates with experience in surveying, or the use of design software such AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar
