Responsibilities

Provides direct patient care in accordance with established protocols and under the supervision of an RN, including assistance with hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and comfort
Obtains and records patient vital signs, intake and output, weight, and other key data throughout the shift, escalating abnormalities as appropriate
Assists with point-of-care testing and specimen collection within scope of training
Supports patient safety by assisting with fall precautions, monitoring at-risk patients, and participating in hourly rounding
Maintains a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment; stocks supplies and reports maintenance or safety issues
Leads the unit orientation process for new PCTs, including schedule development, progress tracking, and coaching
Coordinates in-service training and collaborates with vendors or subject matter experts to facilitate skill development
Acts as a mentor to PCT staff by modeling professional behavior, teamwork, and adherence to policies
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all policies and standards

Qualification

Patient Care Technician certificationBasic Life Support (BCLS)Clinical equipment proficiencyElectronic health recordsInterpersonal skillsCommunication skillsMentoring skillsTeamworkTime management

Required

Completion of an approved Patient Care Technician or Nursing Assistant program required
1-3 years of experience as a Patient Care Technician or Nursing Assistant required
BCLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) within 30 days of start date required

Preferred

0-1 years of experience in a lead or preceptor role preferred
CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
