HVAC Technician II (25-26 SY)-Facilities
Irving Independent School District is seeking an HVAC Technician II to ensure the District’s HVAC systems operate efficiently with minimal disruptions to educational programs. The role involves diagnosing HVAC system malfunctions, performing repairs, and providing on-the-job training to other employees.
Education
Responsibilities
Diagnose causes of malfunctions in HVAC systems
Repair or replace failed components or systems in a skilled and safe manner
Give on-the-job instructions and training to other employees as appropriate
Do follow-up repairs and assist the HVAC Lead and other technicians
Respond to pages in a timely manner while serving on-call duty
Practice high standards of safety during the performance of duties
Record all material and labor sites and keep the immediate supervisor informed of job costs and progress
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the HVAC Lead or as directed by supervisors within the line of authority in the Facilities Department
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED, and HVAC trade school certification
Able to read written instructions, understand verbal instructions, and complete written reports
Possess a valid Texas Class C driver's license and prove insurability with the District's insurance carrier
Must possess, or be able to obtain a valid Universal Refrigerant recovery certificate within 90 days of employment
Demonstrated success in performing a wide variety of tasks requiring an understanding of HVAC repair
Working knowledge of chilled water plant/hot water plant operations and repair
Working knowledge of Energy Management Systems and controls
Demonstrated ability to work and get along with people
7 years' experience in residential, commercial, or instructional HVAC repair with current Universal Refrigerant Recovery license
Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem-solving skills while under stress
Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making
Ability to lift and carry 55 or more pounds without assistance
Continual moderate lifting and carrying (15-55 pounds)
Occasional reaching above shoulder level
Continuous use of fingers
Continual standing and walking
Frequent bending and stopping
Ability to climb ladders
Frequent operation of a motor vehicle
Ability to distinguish basic colors
Ability to work outdoors and indoors
Occasional need to work above and below ground
Exposure to heat, cold, and humidity
Exposure to asbestos-containing materials, grease and oils, solvents, and electrical energy
Exposure to machinery with moving parts
Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy
Practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training
Wearing personal protective equipment as required
Reporting injuries and incidents immediately to supervisor
Being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety
