Responsibilities
Serves as lead worker on assigned crew
Operates a variety of vehicles/equipment (dump trucks, trailers, etc.)
Installs, maintains, inspects, and repairs water and sewer lines
Responds to trouble calls regarding leaks, breaks, low pressure, and water quality/clarity
Reads water meters; searches for leaks; activates or deactivates meters according to work orders
Oversees installation of pipes and fittings into excavated ditch
Repairs manholes
Exercises fire hydrants, valves, and air release valves
Operates sewer cleaning machines and vehicles
Responds to after-hours calls on nights, weekends, and holidays
Performs general and preventive maintenance of equipment
Performs general maintenance of utility building and grounds
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Possession of a high school diploma/GED
Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related experience
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Class A endorsement; possess and maintain a driving record that meets established Gloucester County Driving Standards
Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination. Position subject to subsequent physical examinations to ensure incumbent meets physical job requirements
