Responsibilities
Anticipates the needs of the surgeon during routine and complex assignments in the scrub role
Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure
Intervenes to correct, minimize, or prevent actual or potential risks, based upon observation of physiological and/or behavioral data
Solves problems, troubleshoots, and takes corrective measures in care and handling of equipment
Serves as the preceptor for new employees, transfers, and/or affiliating students
Qualification
Required
Technical School Diploma Surgical technician program
4 years experience in an operating room
Accepts and recognizes differences among people
Demonstrates knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the procedure and for maintenance of the sterile field
Demonstrates knowledge of the problem solving process in the identification and resolution of patient care or other problems
Demonstrates the capacity to become competent and perform a variety of required technical skills
American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
CST - Certified Surgical Technologist NBSTSA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
CFA - Certified Surgical First Assistant NBSTSA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
