Responsibilities

Creates work schedules and determines, coordinates, and supervises daily staffing assignments and staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage

Trains and coaches assigned staff. Provides input for hiring and termination procedures

Ensures adequate supply levels are maintained. Manages product usage

Performs monthly inventory of durable medical equipment and medication injections

Applies and removes splints and casts

Repairs, maintains and adjusts casting material during treatment regimen as necessary for patient safety and comfort

Assesses cast material needs and application techniques for patients

Measures and fits patients for hinged braces, orders appliances and documents measurements and results

Provides patient and family education regarding cast/splint application, care and removal

Documents events in the patient's medical record (blood pressures, etc.). Respects and maintains confidentiality of patient's medical record

Provides escort for orthopedic patients within clinic when necessary

Participates in telephone screening of cast patients for cast education, referral to nurse, physician and appointment desk

Assists with surgical procedures done in the procedure room

Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner

Performs other duties as assigned

Required

High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience

Two years of relevant orthopedic experience

MUST have 2 years of experience in Orthopedics (working in an orthopedic office, working with vendors for orthopedic surgery hardware, preparing equipment needed for surgical procedure, etc.)
