Arts Assistant
NEOGOV is seeking an Arts Assistant to support the Parks, Arts, and Recreation Department in Auburn, WA. The role involves coordinating arts programs, managing events, and facilitating community outreach efforts while ensuring smooth operations at the Postmark Center for the Arts.

Responsibilities
Coordinates with regular Arts, Theater, Special Event, and/or Marketing staff in the planning and oversight of related programs, program development, day of event duties as assigned, supervision of volunteers, facility and/or program
Production, advance coordination, planning and preparation for art installations or events, performances, concerts and special events
Gallery installations and de-installations of rotating art exhibits
Assist in all building operations and programming at the Postmark Center for the Arts
Demonstrate capability to successfully run all registration software and processes needed for building rentals, classes, or events
Operate all needs of the Postmark gift shop space, including but not limited to: operating a point of sale system to make sales, keep accurate inventory of items, create and maintain displays, organize backstock, wrap and box sold items for customers, and communicate with represented artists
Assist with community outreach and marketing efforts and act as an advocate for arts programming, events, and facilities, including website updating, social media marketing, email marketing, and more
Assist with arts educational programming, including: outreach to instructors, developing class plans, drafting contracts, assisting with registration systems, communications, and facilitation of classes and community programs
Qualification
Required
Must be at least 18 years old
Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as well as mid-week hours
Must be able to pass a background check
Must possess a valid, current state driver's license at the time of appointment
Basic computer skills and office equipment
Ability to operate a ladder, small tools, and carry up to 50 lbs
Previous experience in at least three of the following required: retail cashiering, arts education, art gallery administration, customer service, stage, production or event management, project planning and administrative assistance and staff or shift management supervision
Preferred
An interest and passion for the arts field
Experience and/or education in arts disciplines, including but not limited to: visual arts, arts administration, arts education, art galleries, art museums, exhibition installation, performing arts, literary arts, etc
Experience in digital marketing platforms: web and social media
Experience in arts education or community-driven art programming
Experience in any of the following visual art media and equipment: printmaking, glass arts, metal arts
Staging, theatrical production and/or equipment knowledge very helpful
Desired skills include: strong organization, attention to detail, effective communication, and timeliness
Benefits
WA Paid Sick Leave (WPSL) is issued at 0.025 hours for each hour worked (equaling one (1) hour for every 40 hours worked), as required by law.
Employees in this classification may be eligible for WA State Paid Family Medical Leave dependent upon their qualifications and work history in WA State.
Employees in this classification may also be eligible for PERS contributions, dependent upon their hours of work each month and their length of service.
