Assistant Professor of Music Education

Utah Tech University is inviting applications for a full-time tenure track assistant professor of music education, starting in Fall Semester 2026. The role focuses on preparing innovative K-12 music educators through teaching and collaboration with various departments to ensure compliance with education standards.

Responsibilities

Teach 24 credit hours of music education and other music courses within areas of expertise per academic year plus the equivalent of three credit hours or more in institutional service as defined by the College of Fine Arts
Serve as liaison with Utah Tech Education Department and State Office of Education to assure conformity with teacher licensing and related requirements
Work with the Education Department on practicum and student teaching placement and oversight
Assist in recruiting, advising, retention, and placement of students
Participate in course and program assessment
Perform campus-wide faculty duties, including holding office hours, attendance at department, division, and other administrative unit meetings, service on committees, and adherence to campus policies
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Doctoral degree in Music Education. ABD considered
A minimum of three (3) years' experience in Music Education
Demonstrated teaching ability at the college or university level
Oral and written communication skills that contribute to a collaborative working environment among students, staff, and colleagues
