Shop Crane Technician - Heavy Equipment

The Manitowoc Company is a leading provider of engineered lifting solutions, and they are seeking a Shop Crane Technician for their Billings, Montana branch. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and troubleshooting various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes, ensuring compliance with OEM specifications.

Machinery

Responsibilities

Operate and perform thorough inspection of cranes in order to diagnose defects
Diagnose, repair and troubleshoot various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes and other types of construction equipment; repair hydraulic and electrical components
Examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges
Reads, understands and interprets operating and parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings
Tests mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications
Prepares for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness
Perform thorough and accurate annual inspections
Properly fills out working reports, hours reports, time sheets, hours overviews and expense reports
Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision
Provides excellent customer service
Other duties as assigned

Qualification

Required

High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Mechanic/Technician required or a two year technical diploma from an accredited vocational school
Experience working with different forms of mobile crane equipment, specifically Grove RT & TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes; National Boom Trucks
Must be able to read both electrical and hydraulic schematics
Must have excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus
Possession of a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
Required to purchase full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches

Preferred

Experience working with other major brands of mobile cranes and/or construction equipment
Possession of a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record preferred
Basic computer skills preferred
