The Municipality of Anchorage is seeking an Assistant Municipal Attorney II to join their Office of the Municipal Attorney. This executive position involves representing the Municipality in various legal matters, providing legal services to municipal clients, and mentoring newer attorneys within the office.

Responsibilities

Represent the Municipality in a variety of legal matters, including in civil litigation in state or federal court and in administrative proceedings involving the Municipality

Provide a full range of legal services to municipal clients

Work with and monitor staff

Mentor newer attorneys

Participate in hiring and promotion decisions within the office as requested

Perform additional duties as assigned

Required

Graduation from an accredited school of law

Must be admitted to the State of Alaska Bar Association (within 90 days of hire)

Four (4) years of experience as a Municipal Attorney I with the Municipality of Anchorage or the equivalent elsewhere

Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) / National Crime Information Center (NCIC) or functionally equivalent certification within 30 days of hire

Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire

Preferred

Energetic, community-minded attorney with an interest or experience in transactional work (supporting complex transactions, finance, and the Port of Alaska)
