Maintenance Technician
The Salvation Army Great Lakes Division is dedicated to serving the community and ensuring the well-being of its members. The Maintenance Technician role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day maintenance of the facility, ensuring a clean, safe, and operational environment for guests and staff.

Responsibilities
Provide oversight in the day-to-day maintenance for the RJKCCC
General maintenance is provided including painting, carpentry, electrical and plumbing tasks are completed as assigned. Exercise discretion to address emergency repair and safety situations in accordance with skills or knowledge and local approved contractors to address issues
Work with outside providers and contractors to manage and repair the physical plant
Grounds are maintained according to expectations
Participate in the upkeep and maintenance of all vehicles and motor driven equipment
Work orders are completed in a timely fashion
Maintain timely and accurate record keeping including the areas of repair logs and other reporting as required
Daily monitor of all building facilities including swimming pools, outdoor athletic facilities, gymnasium, performing arts center, education building, Chapel, childcare center, parking lots and landscaped areas
Daily monitor all electrical, security, communication and ventilation systems for the RJKCCC building
Monitor Kroc Equipment and maintain HVAC
Meet regularly with the Maintenance Manager to participate in setting priorities and recommendations for repairs, remodeling and replacement of facilities and equipment
Be first respondent on fire alarm system, chemical spills and/or hazardous materials management
Identify and implement any needed repairs or special projects to plumbing, electrical, windows or structures daily
Monitor properly for any signs of graffiti or vandalism damage to the RJKCCC buildings, including bus stops, fences and light poles. Report vandalism immediately after recording the damage
Report incidents which will include photographs and a written account to the Maintenance Manager
Ensure Guest safety by immediately correcting and or reporting any potentially unsafe conditions
Maintain and use equipment and supplies according to department standards
Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures
Execute year-round preventative maintenance plan as assigned, working with departments to maintain systems and equipment
Work with the Aquatics Coordinator to maintain pool filtration systems and health
Maintain staff relationships and work cooperatively with the RJKCCC employees and guests, ensuring a high level of service in maintenance
Assistance is provided on other facility projects assigned
Qualification
Required
High school education or equivalent
Experience in building maintenance and grounds keeping of a large, multiuse facility
Must have, or obtain within 60 days, a valid Illinois Drivers' License and be able to meet The Salvation Army's approved driving requirements
Knowledge of all Building systems, crafts and trades: Electrical, HVAC, Refrigeration, Fire protection, Building/Energy Management Systems, building and electrical codes, carpentry, OSHA regulations and safe working techniques and procedures
Proven ability to develop, plan, schedule and perform preventative maintenance and repair work and direct skilled tradespersons and technicians in the performance of their duties
Basic proficiency in use of computers (i.e. word processing, email, etc.)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to maintain written records, work orders and other forms of documentation
The demonstrated ability to provide a service that anticipates problems, efficiently responds to needs and effectively engages the staff of client's departments
A flexible style that reacts to changing priorities and displays a willingness to learn
An excellent attention to detail, procedures, processes and policies
The ability to manage projects, priorities and programs in a constantly changing environment
Ability to work independently or with others to ensure completion and quality workmanship
Good communication, organization, interpersonal and time management skills
Must be flexible with working nights, weekends and holidays
