MGX Equipment Services is a company specializing in engineered lifting solutions, and they are seeking a Shop Crane Technician to join their Norfolk, Virginia branch. The role involves operating and inspecting cranes, diagnosing and repairing defects, and ensuring compliance with OEM specifications.

Responsibilities

Operate and perform thorough inspection of cranes in order to diagnose defects

Diagnose, repair and troubleshoot various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes; repair hydraulic and electrical components

Examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges

Reads, understands and interprets operating and parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings

Tests mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications

Prepares for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness

Perform thorough and accurate annual inspections

Properly fills out working reports, hours reports, time sheets, hours overviews and expense reports

Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision

Provides excellent customer service

Other duties as assigned

Qualification

Mobile crane experienceHydraulic systems knowledgeElectrical schematics readingTechnical drawing interpretationCustomer service skillsBasic computer skills

Required

High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Mechanic/Technician required

Must be able to read both electrical and hydraulic schematics

Must have excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus

Required to purchase full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches

Preferred

Experience working with different forms of mobile crane equipment, specifically Grove RT & TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes; National Boom Trucks preferred

Possession of a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record preferred

Basic computer skills preferred
