Responsibilities

Direct the work of the Admissions office, including recruitment, and the Admissions Services Center
Manage day-to-day department operations, including monitoring and evaluating the activities of the department
Select, supervise, and evaluate the professional and support staff assigned to the department
Provide or secure training for staff, to ensure adherence to laws, policies, procedures, processes, and excellent service
Oversee the development and administration of a balanced budget
Provide leadership to ensure the utilization of a variety of effective and best practices in admissions, recruitment, and call centers, to ensure high quality delivery of student support services
Ensure that services meet the needs of both credit and continuing education students and integrates services for special populations into programs in the department (returning adults, high school students, etc.)
Ensure that admissions and residency policies are enforced
Implement new technology to better serve current and prospective students
Manage relevant content for admissions, dual/concurrent, and orientation websites
Develop initiatives to increase enrollment and utilize data for continuous improvement
Develop an annual recruitment calendar with accompanying goals, intended outcomes, and an evaluation plan
Develop and monitor the AOD unit assessment plan (Yearly Game Plan) and report yearly outcomes
Participate in the marketing of student services through preparation of materials for the college catalog, student handbook, brochures, the web, and social media
Oversee the CRM (Ellucian Recruit) to ensure effective communication to suspects, prospects, and applicants at each stage of the enrollment funnel
Analyze activity at each stage of the enrollment funnel and develop strategies to move suspects, prospects, and applicants through to the next stage of enrollment
Provide a metrics report on all admissions activities three times per year (fall, spring, summer), highlighting tactics that increased enrollment
Provide weekly, monthly, and an annual enrollment report which highlights the enrollment funnel, including total contacts, applicants, enrolled, and other enrollment related data
Oversee and/or respond to inquiries of the U.S. Immigration Service regarding international students
Oversee and/or Prepare I-20s, enters student information into SEVIS database, advises students on F-1 status and monitors their academic progress
Serve as the Primary Designated School Officer and work with Designated School Officer (DSO) to help international students navigate the enrollment process, including but not limited to registering students in SEVIS, educating students on compliance with regulations, and maintaining the international records
Remain informed about international policies and laws, ensure that the college stays in compliance with international student regulations
Represent the Admissions Department (AOD) on college wide committees and meetings, especially campus committees that directly impact the vision of the department
Participate in Maryland community colleges admissions affinity group
Develop strong partnerships/alliances with academic departments and the college community through timely communication and clearly established goals
Collaborate with local school systems and private high schools by retrieving student data and planning recruitment visits. This includes coordinating recruitment efforts and the registration process for dual on-campus and dual in-school classes. Provides information to local schools about their students’ enrollment, progress, and success at CSM

Required

A bachelor's degree is required
Five years' experience in student service area with progressively greater responsibility
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, peers and community organizations
Effective managerial, supervisory, and human relations skills
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
Ability to develop and manage budgets
Ability to work with professional integrity and discretion
Capacity and willingness to accept duties with initiative and resourcefulness
Strong analytical skills including data gathering, analysis, assessment and evaluation, and evidence-based planning
Must maintain insurability for vehicle use under the college's liability insurance coverage
Proficient in Microsoft office suite

Preferred

Prior experience in a college admissions office preferred
A master's degree in education or a related field is preferred
Prior experience in a community college preferred
Experience with international students preferred
