Responsibilities
Assists customers by issuing library cards, checking materials in & out, placing holds, & locating materials using an automated library system
Assists patrons on-site or by telephone with basic informational & directional requests
Assists customers in use of library catalogs, computers, copiers, printers, & other equipment throughout the library
Handles fines, fees, & payments
Interprets & communicates general library policies & procedures to patrons
Ability to operate equipment such as telephone, computers, copiers, faxes, etc
Searches for needed materials, & shelves accurately according to prescribed locations
Performs opening & closing procedures
Performs other associated duties as required or assigned
Qualification
Required
High School graduate
two years relevant work experience
Ability to perform duties of job
Familiarity with general PC operations in Windows environment
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent reading & verbal ability
Knowledge of library collections & services or willingness to learn
Aptitude for detailed work
Efficiency & friendliness
Good communication skills with both children & adults
This position requires night & weekend work on a rotating basis
Preferred
