Responsibilities

Public Safety Dispatcher performs a range of journey level duties that assists community members and agencies with emergency needs by receiving and dispatching calls received via phone and/or text

Receives caller information, relays information to appropriate unit or agency, and provides assistance to callers as needed

Logs call information into computer

Monitors activity of all public safety units to determine status of incident and location of units and provides pre-arrival medical instructions

Required

High school diploma, GED or equivalent

Eighteen (18) months of full-time work experience involving emergency service dispatching for law enforcement, fire services, or medical dispatching

Demonstrate basic typing speed of 40 WPM by passing of a County approved test

California P.O.S.T. Dispatch Basic certification within the 12-month probationary period

C.L.E.T.S. Terminal Operator certification within the 12-month probationary period

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR) within the 12-month probationary period

Emergency Medical Dispatcher Certification (EMD) within the 12-month probationary period

Previous experience with Sunridge RIMS CAD

Possession of an Emergency Medical Dispatching Certificate
