Industrial Maintenance Electrician / Controls Technician

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot electrical systems including PLC-controlled equipment, servo/stepper drives, VFDs, sensors, and control panels
Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and ladder logic
Test and verify voltage, current, resistance, and continuity with proper tools (multimeter, megger, oscilloscope)
Identify and correct issues such as overloads, short circuits, and grounding faults
Program and modify PLCs, servos, and motor controllers as needed
Ensuring all power and manual tools are operated in accordance with health and safety regulations
Setting up new machines using manuals and training to new production technicians on setup and use
Carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance and servicing the equipment
Interpreting drawings, training manuals, and instructions in order to perform duties
Light machining including making tools and fixtures
Following written, verbal instructions
Attending training workshops as necessary
Performs other related duties, as required

Required

Strong electrical troubleshooting ability in addition to mechanical skills
In-depth knowledge of electrical circuits, PLCs, servos, steppers, sensors, and power distribution systems
Strong foundation in industrial electricity
Troubleshoot electrical systems including PLC-controlled equipment, servo/stepper drives, VFDs, sensors, and control panels
Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and ladder logic
Test and verify voltage, current, resistance, and continuity with proper tools (multimeter, megger, oscilloscope)

Strong understanding of 3-phase power distribution and industrial electrical safety practices (lockout/tagout, NFPA 70E compliance)
Proficient in troubleshooting PLC-based systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent)
Ability to diagnose issues with servo/stepper motors, motor drives, and VFDs
Skilled in reading and creating electrical schematics, ladder logic, and wiring diagrams
Ability to solder, crimp, and repair wiring harnesses and circuit boards
Experience with instrumentation and control systems (sensors, relays, switches, encoders, limit switches, etc.)
Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
Keen technical skills and mechanical ability
Ability to remain calm under pressure
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Extremely proficient with electronic components and systems
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Associate degree in Industrial Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or related field OR equivalent military/industrial training
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in electrical troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment

Preferred

PLC programming experience preferred (list specific platforms if known)
