Recreation Coordinator - Volunteer and Community Engagement
NEOGOV is a company that focuses on parks and recreation services. They are seeking a Recreation Coordinator to plan, coordinate, and implement community athletic programs and engage volunteers, while also overseeing the administration of sports activities and ensuring excellent customer service.

Responsibilities
Presents and facilitates recreational programming within the Recreation Division. Coordinates programs and activities with other County divisions and within the Parks, Recreation, and Conservation Department
Plans and implements assigned athletic programs and leagues. Maintains appropriate program registration records, tallies program attendance for reports, and performs post-program evaluations
Makes recommendations on athletic program improvements and delivery of athletic services
Assists the Department’s Assistant Director with division budget development and management
Assists in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and staff training for program areas
Assists with Recruitment and retention of officials for program offerings
Opens and closes park/facilities according to schedule. Required to report to work at the appointed hour, as scheduled, and work the entire assigned schedule
Organizes, promotes, and conducts diversified recreation activities including athletic programming, special events, games, tournaments, camps, athletic leagues, etc
Reviews and responds to customer concerns. Resolves conflicts regarding county programs and facility usage
Provides program information to the public through the preparation and distribution of marketing materials
Assists in the supervision of paid umpires, referees, and volunteers
Assists in evaluating all programs for effectiveness and value to the overall recreation program
Ensures participant and staff adherence to all safety practices and codes of conduct
Provides excellent customer service to guests and participants, answering questions and acting as a liaison throughout the Department
Maintains accurate records of activities and attendance
Maintains accurate inventory of equipment and supplies. Inspects facilities and equipment for repairs or replacement
Acts as a Sports Official and supports order at games and contests
Coordinates facility use with community agencies, organizations, and the public as appropriate. Assists with the scheduling of assigned facilities
Serves as a liaison and resource for community agencies and other organizations. Performs community outreach to promote recreation programs and stimulate interest in Division offerings
Maintains rosters, registration forms, and enforces established league rules and bylaws
Provide first aid when necessary
Uses computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail, and database software in the performance of work assignments
Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in parks and recreation, sports management, physical education, leisure services, or related discipline
Minimum two years (2) experience in planning and directing community recreation activities
Excellent communication and public relations skills
Demonstrated competence in computer usage
Strong desire to excel in the public park setting
Strong organizational skills in planning and execution of programs and activities
Must possess a valid Florida driver's license
Basic First Aid, CPR/AED Certification (or ability to gain certification within 60 days of hire)
Knowledge of principles, rules, materials, and equipment related to a wide variety of athletic activities, especially in a local government recreation setting
Knowledge of specific rules, techniques, and equipment relevant to assigned sports or activities
Knowledge of safety procedures and occupational hazards in recreation programming
Knowledge of first aid practices and techniques
Knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of public recreation and community athletics
Skills in leadership and staff supervision, including performance management and team-building
Skills in planning and executing athletic and recreational events or leagues
Skills in using software applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar management, email, and databases
Ability to organize and lead athletic and recreational activities that engage community members
Ability to inspire and maintain interest among program participants
Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal) to perform job duties and interact with the public
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and maintain positive interpersonal relationships
Ability to demonstrate creativity and reliability in the planning and execution of programs
Ability to meet physical demands consistent with the responsibilities of the position
Ability to report to work on time consistently and adhere to scheduled work hours, including weekend, holiday, and evening hours
Ability to resolve conflicts professionally and effectively, maintaining a calm and respectful demeanor in challenging situations
Ability to manage difficult guests with patience and diplomacy while upholding policies and ensuring a positive environment for all
Ability to deliver exceptional customer service by actively listening, responding with empathy, and striving to exceed participant expectations
