Responsibilities
Splices fiber optic cables including both loose tube and ribbon optic cables
Constructs a proper splice case, including but not limited to grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage, and sealing
Prepares and maintains accurate splicing records, schematics, and diagrams
Performs work in accordance with industry standards and adheres to safety procedures
Maintains control of activities surrounding the assigned work site(s)
Supports project timelines and provides accurate feedback
Qualification
Required
2+ years of technical education or training required
2+ years of field experience as a telecommunications technician required
Working knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure required
Familiarity with fiber optic cable and splice enclosures required
Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Travel will be required and may be up to 80%, depending on the business needs
Ability to work long hours involving overtime and weekends, as necessary
Ability to respond to the needs of a 24/7/365 operation
Must be able to work emergency schedules during natural disasters and network outages
Individuals must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record meeting the company and insurance policy conditions

Ability to drive and back up a truck and trailer proficiently
Must be able to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces
Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather
Ability to climb and work at elevations (i.e., from ladders, poles, lift trucks) exceeding 18 feet
Able to use a shovel and post hold digger
Ability to work at heights up to 50'
Must be able to climb poles
Lifting up to 50 pounds several times a day
Overhead lifting of over 20 pounds
Ability to work in confined spaces (i.e., attics, crawl spaces, utility holes)
