Community Service Officer II

NEOGOV is seeking a Community Service Officer II to support the Willits Police Department. This role involves performing a variety of technical tasks to assist in the delivery of law enforcement services, including managing evidence, preparing reports, and providing clerical support.

Responsibilities

Greets telephone callers and visitors to department; screens and handles inquiries of a general or specific nature; takes messages
Investigates and prepares reports on burglary, petty theft, lost and found property, missing persons, property damage, accidents, City Ordinance violations, abandoned vehicles, and other incidents
Transports prisoners to County Jail and other locations
Provides general clerical and telephone support for the Department
Maintains evidence and property in the Evidence Room
Receives and catalogs evidence and found property, maintaining records of property movement, processing, and disposition
Maintains logs, records, current status, and location of property in custody
Transports, stores, photographs, releases, or destroys property pursuant to state law and established procedures
Oversees and administers parking citation program
Researches files for case information
Prepares warrant requests for payment of department invoices by the Accounts Payable Department
Processes and serves subpoenas
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent
Completion of a POST or STC certified 832 PC course
A minimum of six (6) months experience as Willits Police Department CSO I
Any combination equivalent to one (1) year experience in public contact work environment, preferably in a law enforcement agency
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license
Excellent physical condition: free from any disqualifying conditions cited in the document 'Medical Screening Manual for California Law Enforcement', published by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training
Achieved an acceptable rating in the City's psychological evaluation prior to initial hiring
Vision: Both eyes corrected to 20/20 or 20/40 uncorrected
Must have shown incentive as a proactive thinker in CSO I position or equivalent position in department, with an action-orientated mindset
