COUNSELOR/INSTRUCTOR
Northwestern State University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Counselor/Instructor. The successful candidate will provide counseling services to university students, faculty, and staff, assist in planning activities for the Office of Counseling Services, and maintain professional standards in the role.

Responsibilities
Assist with the planning and implementation of special activities for the Office of Counseling Services
Develop appropriate paperwork for documentation of counseling services to each client and supervise the maintenance of confidential counseling files
Engage in other duties as assigned by supervisor
Provide counseling services to university students, faculty and staff experiencing stress-related difficulties, life crises and/or other personal difficulties impending their development via individual, and couple, group counseling
Serve on a counseling crisis team to assist students and others in the university community as necessary
Serve on rotation, to provide on-call assistance to students involved in crisis situations, personal difficulties, suicide attempts, sexual assault, etc. after office hours
Administer and interpret standardized tests for personal exploration and development, as allowed by licensing board
Provide outreach services to residence halls, clubs, and organizations to the campus and Natchitoches community and supervise student-run outreach organizations and programming
Instruct University Experience 1000
Maintain contact with appropriate community agencies (Mental Health, private hospitals, churches, etc.) as collaborative resources for students
Work with faculty/staff/administration in developing services to address NSU student needs
Provide support to graduate counseling interns
Maintain professional licensure, certification, and membership in appropriate professional organizations
Evaluate counseling services and outreach activities as required for SACS accreditation
Serve on University committees as designated
Support the university mission, goals, objectives and retention efforts
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
A master's degree in counseling (or related field)
Professional licensure is preferred and at minimum PLPC status attained
