Responsibilities
Collects and performs Water Quality Tests
Performs calculations for chemical additions; fills and adjusts chemical feeder
Performs custodial duties, such as sweep, mop, etc
Troubleshoots equipment and process control problems
Assists Operator with maintaining SCADA to ensure proper water levels and system pressures
Assists Operator with minor maintenance of feed pumps, instrumentation, etc
Drains sludge and backwashes filters
Gathers and performs Water Quality Tests
Maintains proper water levels in storage tanks
Performs minor maintenance
Prepares chemical solutions and calibrates process instruments
Records hourly meter readings and backwashes filters
Performs jar tests
Maintains process control balance to maintain quality and regulatory compliance
Maintains proper water levels in storage tanks
Performs maintenance
Records meter readings fill and adjusts chemical feeders
Performs jar tests and sets chemical dosages
Backwash filters and drains sludge valves
Maintains process control balance to maintain quality and regulatory compliance
Assist in the review and updating of the Standard Operating Procedure Manual annually
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or GED equivalent
Valid Class 'C' Driver's License prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class 'C' driver's license within 30 days of hire per state law)
Pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
Pass a physical examination
TCEQ Grade 'D' Water License obtained within six months of employment (for Water Production Operator I)
TCEQ Grade 'C' Water License obtained within three years of employment (for Water Production Operator I)
Grade 'C' Surface Water Certification issued from TNRCC or TCEQ (for Water Production Operator II)
Two years' experience working as an operator in a Water Treatment Plant (for Water Production Operator II)
Grade 'B' Surface Water Certification issued from TNRCC or TCEQ (for Water Production Operator III)
Four years' experience working as an operator in a 15 MGD or greater Water Treatment Plant (for Water Production Operator III)
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers
Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance
Ability to work rotating shifts
Preferred
Water Treatment experience
TCEQ certification
