Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is Utah’s largest open-access college, dedicated to transforming students’ lives and strengthening surrounding communities. The Student Employment Specialist 1 will provide secretarial and administrative support to the Director of Child Care & Family Services, assist with maintaining licensing and accreditation, and perform various office tasks while ensuring compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities
Provide secretarial and administrative support to the Director of Child Care & Family Services
Handle a variety of work that is confidential in nature
Serve as a receptionist for the areas assigned and classroom support as needed
Provide assistance primarily to child care team at the Tim and Brenda Huval Child Care at Jordan Campus
Assist with maintaining Licensing, Accreditation and child files
Complete office tasks listed above and ensure accounts and contracts are completed properly and in a timely fashion
Maintain files in compliance with state laws, federal regulations and College regulations
Assist in classrooms with breaks, support and transitions
Qualification
Required
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States
All employees are expected to maintain a permanent residence within the State of Utah as a condition of employment
New employees must provide a valid Utah residential address within 30 days of their start date
Knowledge of the importance of early childhood learning
Ability to work well with students, faculty, staff, and the public over the phone and in person
Maintain a professional demeanor in a high stress environment
Ability to learn and follow College policies and procedures
Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
Ability to work effectively in a busy and changing environment
Knowledge of general accounting, budgetary, and fiscal operations
Ability to work with children as necessary to maintain ratios
Ability to track expenditures
Ability to track data and create reports
Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects
Ability to adjust priorities to meet the changing needs of a vital and vibrant center
Ability to appropriately handle confidential information
Computer skills must include proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, and Microsoft Outlook
Ability to perform basic webpage edits
Ability to perform detailed work with accuracy
Meal preparation will be necessary, along with maintaining appropriate meal service tracking
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds
Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities
