Responsibilities

Merchandises course materials (textbooks, access codes, course packets) for distribution to enrolled students each semester to align with the schedule of courses
Placement of shelf labels that contain information about each title and the courses associated with the title
Using the in-store inventory management system, verifies that the correct titles have been ordered, received and available for customer distribution
Prepares textbook titles identified for circulation in the university’s textbook rental program
Assignment of serial numbers to individual copies of textbooks
Reconciles rental inventory against customer transaction records (rented/returned) ensuring the integrity of available inventory for customer distribution
Performs physical inventory of rental textbooks at the close of each semester and participates in the annual physical inventory of University Store
Collaborates with the Assistant Director, Course Materials & Store Operations, to enter and update faculty textbook adoptions via the in-store inventory management system each semester, taking note of those titles and inventory that will not be used the following semester
Assembles a list of titles removed from circulation for future semesters and creates a chargeback via the inventory management system and prepares them for return to vendors
Advertises via competitive bid to wholesale textbook vendors inventory that cannot be returned for refund
Evaluates bids, prepares billing and books for shipment to successful bidders and maintains an activity record
Actively participates in textbook buyback/rental returns each semester including daily reconciliation of purchases
Prepares buyback purchases for return to store inventory and segregates wholesale purchases for transport and billing
Aid customers in the selection of course materials and supports staff involved in order fulfillment of online purchases
Fields customer inquiries regarding print/digital and inclusive access titles, inventory availability
Trains and supervises part-time floor supervisors and student employees assigned to the course materials department to develop proficiency in the use of the in-store inventory management system and our store website
Supports the overall operation of the UCM Store by performing store opening and closing duties

Required

Associate's Degree in Management, Accounting, Business, or related field required
One (1) year retail or inventory management experience required

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree in Management, Accounting, Business, or related field preferred
One (1) year supervisory experience preferred
