Facilities Maintenance Supervisor

Valley Metro is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance staff and program activities. The role involves planning, supervising, and evaluating maintenance work while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and effective operations.

Responsibilities

Supervises staff of a 24 hrs./7 day operation; responds to emergency calls 24 hours a day, 7 days per week; supervises and oversees the construction, modification, maintenance, landscape maintenance, and repair of all Valley Metro buildings, facilities, and equipment, including building and LRV station cleanliness
Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, and inspects the work of staff involved in facility maintenance activities including mechanical, electrical, electronic, carpentry, painting, HVAC, life safety, and security system and related functions in Valley Metro buildings and facilities
Responsible for regulatory reporting and compliance of facility-related equipment and properties. Oversight of personnel that perform mandated inspections and maintenance of said equipment and properties, e.g., Maricopa County Dept. of Air Quality, storm water management, hoists and cranes, backflow prevention, elevators, and conveyance
Responsible for site preparation for all Valley Metro Special Events
Plans, schedules, supervises reviews, and evaluates the work of facility maintenance staff; recommends selection of staff, trains staff in work procedures and administers discipline as required
Participates in budget preparation; prepares cost estimates for budget recommendations and monitors and controls expenditures
Assures compliance with facilities preventive maintenance schedules and Standard Operating Procedures
Prepares, issues, prioritizes and tracks facility and equipment maintenance and repair work orders; maintains accurate records of work performed aligned with the EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) Program
Interprets blueprints, specifications, manuals and related documentation; develops specifications for construction projects and new equipment projects
Develops and conducts safety training; ensures that staff follows safety procedures and that public safety and security procedures are followed
Ensures compliance with hazardous material storage, use, handling, and disposal requirements, as well as OSHA, building, fire, and other regulatory code requirements
Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work; drives a motor vehicle to conduct work site inspections
Must be available to work weekends, holidays, overtime and odd and unusual hours; may be called in on day-off or respond to emergencies; shift schedule is subject to change based on operational needs
Performs other duties of similar nature and level as assigned

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent
Five (5) years' experience in a safety-driven environment (facility maintenance, mechanical repair, skilled trade, construction, transportation)
Two (2) years supervisory experience
OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties as those listed below
Must be available to work weekends, holidays, overtime and odd and unusual hours; may be called in on day-off or respond to emergencies
Valid Arizona Driver's License and the ability to maintain insurability under Valley Metro's Vehicle Insurance Policy
