Responsibilities
Plans and organizes daily activities to locate, identify, and physically inspect agricultural and residential properties for classifying building permits, mobile home permits and inquiries
Locate buildings, obtains measurements, lists exterior characteristics, and determines improvement grade, class and depreciation. Input data into computer
Estimate and determine market value of land, property and improvements through analysis of market sales and other means for tax purposes within an intense deadline setting
Communicate with the public, realtors, attorneys, co-workers, supervisors, surveyors, etc. to provide and exchange information for appraisals
Analyze sales of comparable properties to defend appraised values before local Board of Appeals, and Administrative Law Court as required
Performs all other duties and related work as instructed and assigned
Qualification
Required
Requires an Associate's degree in Real Estate, Appraisal, Business or related field
Requires one (1) year of experience in real estate appraisal work; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license
Requires South Carolina Appraiser Apprentice License
